Small Group Tours for Curious Mature Travellers — Outback Road Trips, Island Escapes & Australia's Wildest Corners

Some people collect stamps. We collect sunrises over the Gulf, red-dust river crossings, and the sound of a Fijian village choir drifting across a lagoon. Curious Compass Collective runs small group tours and guided road trips across Australia and the Pacific — thoughtfully paced for mature travellers who still have a long list of places they've always wanted to see. Every tour is bookable with a 20% deposit, with the balance due 60 days before departure.

Why Travel With the Pride?

We're not a coach company and we're not a backpacker bus. We're a collective — a travelling pride of curious people who'd rather share a campfire story than a hotel lobby. Our small groups mean real conversations, unhurried mornings and the flexibility to stop when something catches your eye.

Curiosity

Every itinerary starts with a question: what's down that track? Our tours follow the interesting road, not just the fastest one — from hidden gorges in the Kimberley to the artisan cheese makers of Victoria's Shipwreck Coast.

Connection

Travelling in a small group of like-minded mature travellers means you arrive as strangers and leave as friends. Solo travellers are warmly welcome — many of our guests come alone and go home with a new pride.

Courage

Courage isn't abseiling. It's finally booking the trip to the Tip of Cape York you've talked about for twenty years. We handle the logistics, the 4WD tracks and the permits so you can simply say yes.

Cape York Pajinka Tour — 14 Days to the Tip of Australia

The bucket-list expedition. Red dirt, river crossings, the Old Telegraph Track and that famous sign at Pajinka, the northernmost point of the Australian mainland. A 4WD road trip that most people only ever read about.

Kimberley Nulla Nulla Safari — 21 Days in the Last Frontier

Three weeks through one of the most remote and spectacular regions on earth: the Gibb River Road, Bungle Bungles, boab trees, ancient rock art and gorges you'll swim in with nobody else around.

Perth to Esperance — The Turquoise Trail (10 Days)

Margaret River wineries, towering karri forests, granite headlands and the whitest sand in Australia at Lucky Bay — where kangaroos lounge on the beach. A Western Australian road trip built for slow wonder.

Fiji Islands Blue Lagoon Tour — 10 Days in the Yasawas

Crystal waterfalls, movie-set lagoons and the warmest welcome you'll ever receive. A small group island escape that mixes village life, snorkelling and doing very little, very well.

The Prissy Silly Tour via Broken Hill — 14 Days of Outback NSW

An outback road trip with a wink: silver-city sunsets, desert sculptures, quirky pubs, outback art and the Living Desert. Serious scenery, unserious company.

Great Ocean Road Trip + Artisan Food Trail — 4 Days

The Twelve Apostles, with cheese. A short, delicious road trip along Victoria's Shipwreck Coast meeting the farmers, bakers and makers behind the region's best produce.

Tamworth Country Music Festival Camping Trip — 6 Days

Boots, banjos and the Golden Guitar. Camp with the pride in the heart of Australia's country music capital and soak up ten days of festival energy in one easy, guided trip.

Curious Questions — Frequently Asked

Who are Curious Compass Collective tours designed for?

Curious, mature travellers — typically in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s plus — who want guided adventure at a thoughtful pace. If you're moderately active, age is no barrier! Groups are small (usually 12 to 14), solo travellers are warmly welcome, and you'll arrive as strangers and leave as a pride.

How does the 20% deposit work?

Pay a 20% deposit online to secure your seat on any tour, or pay in full if you prefer. The balance is due 60 days before departure and we email you a friendly reminder before it's due.

What happens if my plans change and I need to cancel?

Bookings made more than 65 days before departure can be cancelled within 14 days for a full refund under our Peace of Mind Guarantee. After that, your booking converts to a travel credit that never expires and can be used on any future Curious Compass Collective or HEY GC experience.

How fit do I need to be for an outback road trip?

Comfortably mobile is the benchmark: able to walk a few kilometres over uneven ground, climb in and out of a 4WD and enjoy a full day out. Every tour page lists what to expect, and you can message us before booking for an honest answer about any itinerary.

Do you run private or group tours?

Yes. Clubs, social groups and large families can have a private tour designed around their interests, pace and dates — anywhere in Australia or the Pacific. Send us an enquiry and we'll build a quote.
